“There is a script, but the performance depends on how each person feels in the moment. For example, when the performer reading the aforementioned ‘guiding’ text of the performance feels that the applause between sections has gone on too long or is unnecessary, she will say, ‘Come on, enough, let’s move on,’ and continue reading the text. Or someone else will lengthen or shorten their scene, depending on how they feel. Someone may simply feel like singing, dancing, or drawing… The performers are guided by the ‘professionals’, but the reverse is also true. They are simply somewhat older and more experienced colleagues whom one can lean on, literally or metaphorically, when needed. Everything in the performance is calibrated according to the measure of the ‘weakest link’, but with the premise that every single member of the collective, as well as everyone in the audience, is, by some attribute and from some perspective, precisely that link.”
